Steadiness Over Speed

Spring brings momentum, growth, emergence, and energy. And in my experience, more energy can sometimes feel like more speed.

I recently returned from two weeks in southern Spain, and even in such a beautiful region that prioritizes a slower pace, I found myself caught in a current of anxiety. For the first few days, it felt like there was (as Tias Little describes itspeed trapped in my body. The plane had landed days earlier, but I couldn’t fully land where I was.

The Yoga Sutras speak directly to experiences like this. Sutra 1.31 describes how the breath and body can become restless when the mind is unsettled, and Sutra 2.4 reminds us that these patterns can arise even when everything around us is calm.

This month in class, we’ll gently unwind the excess speed we carry physically, mentally, and energetically. Through slow transitions, longer holds, and intentional pauses, we’ll give our bodies and minds time and space to settle.

New Moon Restorative Yoga: Wednesday, April 15 at 7:30pm Eastern
This month’s Restorative Yoga session takes place a few days before the New Moon in Aries, which brings with it a sense of forward momentum. In this class, we’ll explore the idea of gaining momentum without rush or speed.
