July Contentment
The long days and recent heat wave feel like an invitation to slow the pace, move with intention, and listen a little more closely to what our bodies need. Throughout July, we'll continue exploring slow, grounding practices that invite both steadiness and ease. You'll notice plenty of shoulder mobility to create freedom through the upper body, along with forward folds that encourage quiet release.
I’m embracing the word fullness as our class theme this month. In the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, the concept of santosha, or contentment, reminds us that there is wisdom in appreciating what is already here. We don’t need to add or do more to feel full; fullness grows from slowing down enough to recognize the richness of what’s here already. From there, perhaps we can lean into a deeper sense of contentment.
Heads up: I’ll be away during the last week of July and first week of August. A few classes are cancelled, and a few have been added. Here’s the schedule through July and into August:
Focused Flow Yoga (60 minute class): Sundays at 9:00am Eastern - Functional alignment, breath awareness and slow, Vinyasa-style flow come together in this welcoming class, with an emphasis on building strength, improving mobility and supporting a deeper connection to Self. There will be no classes on July 26 or August 2. These classes are rescheduled for Saturday, July 25 at 9:00am and Friday, August 7 at 6:00pm.
Mindful Momentum Yoga (30 minute class): Thursdays at 7:30am Eastern - Simple mobility work and subtle strengthening pairs with breath and meditation to help start the day with intention and energy. There will be no classes on July 30 or August 6. An hour long Restorative Yoga class is on the schedule Wednesday, August 19 at 7:00pm, instead!
