September Equilibrium

We’ve been exploring equilibrium through the lens of the three Gunas in class this month. Working with the Gunas - the energetic qualities that exist in everything, in constantly shifting proportions - invites us to notice what’s present and get curious about what we might need more or less of. I’ve loved teaching this theme leading up to the Autumn Equinox, since the Equinox is proof of how fleeting equilibrium is. Night and day are balanced for just a moment as the inevitable shift towards less daylight begins. This natural shift coincides with other changes this time of year tends to bring, from rearranged routines to fluctuations in energy and shifting demands. It’s a good time to remember that finding equilibrium is an ongoing process of responding to what’s happening around us and being able to adapt.

As the season shifts, my intention is to stay open to change and move with whatever comes next.
